What is CS Rating?
A numerical Elo-based rating system in Counter-Strike 2 Premier mode that measures player skill from 1,000 to 40,000 points across seven color tiers.
CS Rating is the modern skill measurement system in Counter-Strike 2's Premier mode, replacing the traditional hidden MMR system from previous versions. Unlike the classic Competitive ranks that are map-specific, CS Rating provides a unified skill score across all maps that you play.
When you complete your first 10 placement matches in Premier mode, you receive your initial CS Rating, which can range from around 1,000 to 40,000 points. The system uses seven color-coded tiers to visually represent skill levels:
- Gray (< 4,999): Entry-level players still learning fundamentals
- Light Blue (5,000 - 9,999): Developing players with basic game knowledge
- Blue (10,000 - 14,999): Consistent players with solid mechanics
- Purple (15,000 - 19,999): Advanced players with strong team play
- Pink (20,000 - 24,999): Highly skilled players approaching competitive level
- Red (25,000 - 29,999): Elite players with professional-level understanding
- Gold (30,000+): Top-tier players in the global elite
The rating system is transparent, showing you exactly how many points you gain or lose after each match based on wins, losses, individual performance, and the skill level of your opponents. This transparency helps players understand their progression and what they need to improve.
CS Rating is exclusive to players with Prime Status and is designed to create more balanced matches by accurately matching players of similar skill levels. The system takes into account not just whether you win or lose, but how you perform in each match, making it a more nuanced measure of skill than the traditional rank system.
