Biography

Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg is a Danish former professional League of Legends player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest mid laners in the history of North American esports. Born on February 21, 1996, in Denmark, Bjergsen grew up in the small town of Mejdal and began his professional career in 2013 with Copenhagen Wolves in the European LCS. His early success in Europe caught the attention of Team SoloMid (TSM), one of North America's premier esports organizations, and in 2014 he made the bold move to relocate to the United States to join their roster.

Bjergsen's impact on the North American scene was immediate and profound. He won his first LCS championship with TSM in 2014, just months after joining the team, and went on to become the winningest player in LCS history with six domestic titles. His mechanical skill, champion pool versatility, and leadership abilities made him a cornerstone of TSM's dominance throughout the 2010s. Bjergsen was known for his proficiency on Syndra, often playing her even when she wasn't considered meta, and later developed a reputation for his pocket pick Zilean, earning him the nickname "Timelord."

Throughout his career, Bjergsen accumulated numerous individual accolades, including three LCS MVP awards (2015 Spring, 2016 Summer, 2017 Summer) and six First Team All-Pro selections. He holds the record for most kills in LCS history and was a perennial candidate for the league's top honors. His international career, while less decorated than his domestic success, included appearances at five World Championships and a victory at IEM Katowice 2015, where he was named tournament MVP.

After seven years with TSM, Bjergsen retired from professional play in October 2020 to become the team's head coach. However, his competitive drive led him to return to active play in 2022 with Team Liquid, where he won the LCS Lock In tournament. He concluded his playing career with 100 Thieves in 2023 before retiring permanently in April of that year. Bjergsen's legacy extends beyond his impressive statistics and championship titles; he helped elevate the level of play in North America and inspired a generation of mid laners who sought to emulate his success.
