Biography

Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk stands as one of League of Legends' most accomplished AD carries, boasting an unprecedented collection of major international titles. Born December 29, 1998, Ruler began his professional career in 2016 with Stardust in the Challengers Korea scene, competing under the name Bung. His rapid ascent caught Samsung Galaxy's attention, who signed him mid-2016 and gave him the moniker "Ruler"—a name suggested by coach Edgar that would become synonymous with excellence.

Ruler's rookie split with Samsung Galaxy was nothing short of spectacular. Despite joining mid-season, he quickly established himself as the team's primary ADC, earning the unofficial "rookie of the split" designation from English OGN casters. Samsung finished fourth in the regular season, qualifying for the Regional Finals where they upset KT Rolster 3-2 in a historic series that broke a 19-game losing streak against their rivals. This victory secured their spot at the 2016 World Championship.

At Worlds 2016, Ruler and Samsung Galaxy dominated their group with a 5-1 record before falling to eventual champions SK Telecom T1 in the finals. The following year, Ruler reached new heights, winning the 2017 World Championship with Samsung Galaxy in a dominant 3-0 victory over SKT—the same team that had defeated them the previous year. He was awarded Finals MVP for his exceptional performance, cementing his status as the world's premier ADC.

After Samsung's 2017 victory, Ruler joined Gen.G Esports (formerly Samsung Galaxy) in 2018, where he would spend the next six years building a legacy. During his Gen.G tenure, Ruler won the 2022 LCK Summer Split and accumulated numerous individual accolades, including LCK MVP and multiple All-Pro selections. His mechanical precision and champion pool versatility made him a nightmare for opponents, particularly on Ezreal, where he holds the record for most games played with a single champion in LCK history.

In a surprising move in late 2022, Ruler transferred to JD Gaming in the LPL, where he immediately made an impact by winning both the 2023 LPL Spring Split and the Mid-Season Invitational. His MSI 2023 victory made him only the second player after Deft to win Worlds, MSI, and a domestic league title. Ruler's success continued with the 2023 LPL Summer Split and a second MSI title in 2025, this time with Gen.G.

Ruler's playstyle is characterized by exceptional laning phase dominance, superior positioning in teamfights, and the ability to carry games through both mechanical skill and game sense. His "Ruler Ending" phenomenon—where games would conclude shortly after he reached a certain item or level—became legendary throughout the scene. Known for his calm demeanor and consistency, Ruler has maintained elite performance levels for nearly a decade, earning comparisons to League's greatest players.

Beyond his competitive achievements, Ruler is known for his deep connection with fans, including a custom mouse created by supporters in 2022. He's also a member of Korea's Honor Club for charitable donations. With over 2,500 kills and 500 professional games played, Ruler continues to compete at the highest level, recently returning to Gen.G in 2025 for what many expect to be the final chapter of an illustrious career that has already secured his place among League of Legends' all-time greats.
