Biography

Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev, born October 2, 1997, in Kyiv, Ukraine, is widely regarded as the greatest Counter-Strike player of all time. His journey in professional CS began at age 15 when he joined HellRaisers in 2013, quickly establishing himself as a prodigy with exceptional mechanical skill and game sense.

After brief stints with various teams including Natus Vincere's junior squad, Team Kinguin, and HellRaisers again, s1mple's career-defining moment came in 2016 when he joined Team Liquid in North America. Despite the team's eventual disbandment, his 2016 performance was legendary - he achieved the highest single-year rating in CS:GO history at the time and was ranked the 4th best player globally by HLTV.

In 2017, s1mple returned to Natus Vincere (NAVI), where he would spend the majority of his career and achieve his greatest successes. His 2018 season was historic - he became the first player to achieve a 1.30+ rating across an entire year, won the HLTV #1 player award, and secured his first MVP at ESL One Cologne 2018. The "s1mple era" truly began in 2021 when he finally broke through to win his first Major title at PGL Stockholm, earning MVP honors and completing his trophy cabinet with the Intel Grand Slam.

Known for his aggressive AWPer playstyle, s1mple revolutionized the role with his ability to create space, make impossible shots, and maintain extraordinary consistency. His mechanical ceiling remains unmatched - he's recorded multiple 1vX clutches, incredible no-scopes, and has the highest headshot percentage among top players. His rivalry with ZywOo pushed both players to unprecedented heights, with s1mple achieving the rare feat of winning HLTV's #1 player award three times (2018, 2021, 2022).

Beyond his mechanical prowess, s1mple's impact on the game is immeasurable. He's been the centerpiece of NAVI's dominance in the CIS region, helped legitimize Ukrainian esports on the global stage, and his matches routinely draw massive viewership. His dedication to improvement, even at the peak of his career, and his ability to elevate teammates have cemented his legacy as not just a statistical marvel, but a true generational talent who redefined what's possible in Counter-Strike.
