SumaiL

Syed Sumail Hassan, better known as SumaiL, is a Pakistani-American professional Dota 2 player who has been one of the most dominant mid laners in the game's history. Born on February 13, 1999, in Karachi, Pakistan, SumaiL began playing Dota at just eight years old. His family moved to Rosemont, Illinois in 2012, where he quickly established himself as a prodigy in the North American scene.

SumaiL's professional career exploded in 2015 when he joined Evil Geniuses at just 15 years old. His breakout performance came at the Dota 2 Asia Championships 2015, where he introduced his signature Eul's Scepter Shadow Fiend build and led EG to victory. This tournament established him as one of the best Storm Spirit players in the world.

The pinnacle of his early career came at The International 2015, where at 16 years old, SumaiL became the youngest player ever to win the championship and surpass $1 million in esports earnings. His fearless playstyle and mechanical skill were on full display, particularly in his comeback performances where he would die multiple times early but still dominate the game.

After his TI victory, SumaiL continued to evolve as a player, expanding his hero pool to include Storm Spirit, Ember Spirit, Puck, and Tiny. He's known for his aggressive, high-tempo playstyle that puts immense pressure on opponents. Throughout his career with Evil Geniuses from 2015-2019, he consistently performed at the highest level, though the team never recaptured TI glory.

In 2020, SumaiL joined OG as their carry, showcasing his versatility by transitioning to a different role. He later played for Team Secret and various other teams before joining Nigma Galaxy, where he continues to compete at the highest level.

SumaiL holds numerous records, including the most kills in a single game at The International (31 kills as Tiny against OG in 2018). He's been featured in Time Magazine's top 30 influential teenagers of 2016, making him the first Dota 2 player to receive such recognition.

Known for his exceptional laning phase, teamfight impact, and ability to create space, SumaiL has influenced an entire generation of mid laners. His mechanical prowess, particularly on heroes like Storm Spirit and Ember Spirit, has set the standard for what it means to be a top-tier mid laner in Dota 2.
