Biography

Tyson "TenZ" Ngo is widely regarded as one of the most mechanically gifted players in VALORANT history. Born on May 5, 2001, in Canada to Vietnamese and French parents, TenZ began his professional gaming career in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive before transitioning to VALORANT during its closed beta in 2020.

TenZ quickly made a name for himself in VALORANT by becoming the first player to reach the highest rank (now known as Radiant) in North America during the closed beta. His exceptional aim, movement, and game sense caught the attention of top organizations, leading to his signing with Cloud9 in April 2020.

After a brief stint with Cloud9, TenZ was loaned to Sentinels in March 2021, where he would eventually sign permanently. With Sentinels, TenZ achieved his greatest success, including winning the prestigious VCT 2021 Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík tournament. His highlight-reel plays and consistent fragging ability made him a fan favorite and one of the most-watched streamers in the VALORANT community.

Throughout his career, TenZ has been known for his versatility as a duelist, mastering agents like Jett, Raze, and Reyna. His aggressive playstyle and incredible mechanical skill have earned him comparisons to some of the greatest FPS players of all time. Despite facing challenges with health issues and burnout, TenZ has consistently bounced back, showcasing his resilience and passion for the game.

On September 14, 2024, TenZ announced his retirement from competitive VALORANT to focus on content creation for Sentinels. His impact on the VALORANT esports scene extends beyond his tournament victories, as he has inspired countless aspiring players with his mechanical prowess and entertaining gameplay.

TenZ is also known for being protanomaly colorblind, which has led to his use of yellow instead of red as his enemy highlight color in VALORANT. This unique aspect of his play has further endeared him to fans and highlighted his adaptability as a player.

Throughout his career, TenZ has accumulated over $180,000 in prize money and has been a key figure in elevating the North American VALORANT scene to global prominence.
