OG Esports

EuropeFounded 2015

OG Esports is one of the most decorated and influential organizations in Dota 2 history. Founded on October 31, 2015, by Johan "N0tail" Sundstein and Tal "Fly" Aizik under the name "(monkey) Business," the team quickly rebranded to OG and began their journey toward becoming legends of the game.

OG's breakthrough came at The Frankfurt Major in November 2015, where they defeated Team Secret in the grand finals. This victory established them as a powerhouse in the European Dota 2 scene. The team continued their dominance by winning The Manila Major in 2016 and The Boston Major later that year, becoming the first organization to win three consecutive Valve-sponsored majors.

Perhaps OG's most remarkable achievements came in The International tournaments. In 2018, they became the first team to win The International from the open qualifiers, defeating PSG.LGD in a dramatic 3-2 series. They made history again in 2019 by winning The International 2019 (TI9), becoming the first team to win back-to-back TIs and the first to win more than one TI overall. Their 2019 victory was particularly impressive as they defeated Team Liquid 3-1 in the grand finals.

OG's success isn't limited to just winning tournaments. They've developed a reputation for their innovative playstyle, strong team chemistry, and ability to perform under pressure. The organization has featured some of Dota 2's greatest players, including N0tail, who holds the record for highest career earnings in esports history, and Topson, known for his mechanical skill and creative hero pool.

Throughout their history, OG has undergone numerous roster changes, always maintaining their competitive edge. They've expanded beyond Dota 2 into other games like CS2 and VALORANT, but their Dota 2 team remains their flagship roster. In 2025, OG made a significant move by establishing a fully Southeast Asian roster based in the Philippines, demonstrating their commitment to global expansion while maintaining their competitive standards.

OG's legacy extends beyond their impressive trophy cabinet. They're known for their community engagement, content creation, and the "OG spirit" - a combination of resilience, innovation, and sportsmanship that has inspired fans worldwide. Their story has been featured in documentaries and has become a model for how esports organizations can build lasting brands in competitive gaming.
