Sentinels

North AmericaFounded 2016

Sentinels is a premier American esports organization based in Los Angeles, California. Originally founded in 2016 as Phoenix1, a League of Legends team competing in the North American League of Legends Championship Series (NA LCS), the organization rebranded to Sentinels in June 2018 following the NA LCS franchise system. Under the Sentinels banner, the organization has expanded into multiple competitive gaming titles including VALORANT, Apex Legends, Halo, League of Legends, and Marvel Rivals.

Sentinels made their mark in VALORANT by signing former Overwatch player Jay "sinatraa" Won and former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan, Hunter "SicK" Mims, and Jared "zombs" Gitlin in April 2020. The team quickly became a powerhouse, winning the first international VALORANT tournament, VCT 2021: Stage 2 Masters - Reykjavík, without losing a single map. They followed this up with victories at VALORANT Masters Madrid 2024 and AfreecaTV VALORANT LEAGUE 2023, establishing themselves as one of the most successful organizations in VALORANT history.

The organization has seen numerous roster changes throughout its history, with notable players including Tyson "TenZ" Ngo, who joined on loan from Cloud9 in 2021 before being fully acquired, and more recent additions like Bryan "pANcada" Luna da Silva, Gustavo "Sacy" Rossi, and Zachary "zekken" Patrone. Sentinels has consistently remained competitive at the highest levels of VALORANT, qualifying for multiple international tournaments and maintaining a strong presence in the VALORANT Champions Tour Americas League.

Beyond VALORANT, Sentinels has achieved success in other titles. In Halo, they signed the legendary TOX Gaming roster and later acquired Bradley "Frosty" Bergstrom, a two-time Halo World Championship winner. The organization also made headlines in Fortnite by signing Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf, who won the 2019 Fortnite World Cup Solo competition.

In October 2025, Sentinels announced their return to the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS), taking over the slot previously held by 100 Thieves for the 2026 season. This marked their return to their original competitive title after selling their LCS spot following the franchise system implementation.

Throughout its history, Sentinels has been known for building championship-caliber teams across multiple esports titles, maintaining a strong brand identity, and consistently competing at the highest levels of professional gaming.
